Most of you would be aware of the upcoming star wars live action TV series that was announced on 23rd April 2005 by George Lucas at the star wars celebration III fan gathering in Indianapolis, Indiana. In front of a massive crowd of 10,000 fans Lucas revealed his plan of launching a science fiction live action TV series which he said would be based on the same concept as that of star war films. It’s slated to make its debut in 2010 but neither the exact date nor the title of the series is clear. Most probably the well known channel HBO would be airing the series.

What production team has come out with is that they are going to work with some minor characters of star wars galaxy rather than prominent characters from the films. The series will depict the 19 years time period (19 BBY – 0 BBY) between the star wars episode III and star wars episode IV which was referred to as “DARK TIMES” by Obi-Wan Kenobi in star wars episode IV – A New Hope. It was during this time period only that the newly formed Galactic Empire went on to become a superpower in galaxy.

Initially it was proposed that the series would be 100 episodes long where each episode would be of 1 hour duration but later on at celebration Europe Rick McCallum, producer of the series, announced that it may run up to some 400 episodes. As the first season of the series would be written and produced by Lucas its most probable that he might try to give each episode the look of a feature film as he did in his television series “The young Indiana Jones chronicles”. And then from there onwards the work will be handed over to the executive producer.

Expected Cast and crew of the series include:
•    George Lucas (creator/story writer/producer)
•    Rick McCallum (producer)
•    James Marquand (director)
•    John Williams(for musical score)
•    Erick Tiemens (concept artist)
•    (probable) Daniel Logan as Fett
•    (in talks) Jay Laga’aia
•    Minor characters from films and expanded universe
•    Possible cameos by some of the main characters of star war films
•    Confirmed characters – Oola, Bib Fortuna, Boba Fett, Thall Joben, Durron, Naberre, Mandalorian

As per the currently available information, the first season of the series is not going to be aired anytime before 2010 and is currently in the writing stage. McCallum disclosed the fact that the series would be shot all around the world but the main photography base would be in Sydney, Australia. Along with this he also mentioned that HD TV cameras would be used for the shooting and that the budget for filming each episode would be something in between of 1 to 2 million dollars. Also the team has a plan to split the original single show of the series into four different shows later on whereby each show would be focusing on a different character alltogether.

Lucas has also told that this series would be more action packed, greasier than ever before and would be for more mature audiences.
